About Teeth Whitening
Every day, you have things working against your smile. Beverages like coffee and tea will stain them. The foods you eat can cause discoloration too. Of course, smoking will take its toll on the color of your teeth too. There are even prescription medications that can cause teeth yellowing. It seems like no matter what you do, there are reasons why your teeth aren’t going to look so white anymore. Plenty of people even find themselves hiding their smile because they don’t want anyone seeing their dingy, yellow, or discolored teeth.
Here at Rockville Dental Arts, our goal is to restore your smile so that you feel more confident and beautiful. We can help do this through teeth whitening. When you contact us as your cosmetic dentist, we will go over your options and show how our teeth whitening procedures could be ideal in your situation.
We offer two different options for teeth whitening.
Zoom!® teeth whitening is considered one of the most cutting edge options for dealing with stains and discolorations. This method is a process your dentist will use by applying a 25% hydrogen peroxide gel and then activating it with a specialty UV light. You don’t have to worry about any dangers from this since your mouth, lips, eyes, and skin will all be protected from the ultraviolet light.
If you would like to learn more about Zoom!, then contact us and let us be your dentist for the cosmetic dentistry procedure. We will begin with a consultation to determine if this is the best option for you.
The actual procedure will only take about an hour. To prepare for it, we do recommend that you come in for a regular cleaning in advance. Then, your cosmetic dentist will ensure only your teeth are exposed. The gel will be applied and the light activated for 15 minutes while you relax and listen to music. Usually, we apply the gel in three sessions lasting 15 minutes each.
Once you have had the Zoom! procedure, you will want to maintain your new, beautifully white teeth by avoiding anything that could stain your teeth again, like red wine, sodas, tea, coffee, tobacco, etc.
Another option we provide is tray whitening. If you choose this option, your cosmetic dentist will provide you with a tray that fits around your teeth along with a peroxide whitening gel. On a regular basis, you will need to place the gel into the trays and then wear them on your teeth for a scheduled amount of time.
One of the nicest things about this procedure is you will be able to do it in the comfort of your own home. Once you have the trays and the gel, you won’t have to come back for whitening appointments with your dentist. Instead, you can watch TV, read a book, cook, or do anything else while wearing the whitening trays.
